Legal dispute cleared, BCCI organizes multi‑age group cricket trials in Itanagar

Following a court‑ordered pause caused by a disagreement between two factions of the Arunachal Cricket Association, the BCCI has taken charge of selection trials for the state’s cricket teams.

The board appointed independent selectors from Assam to run the process, with M. Khairul Jamal Majumdar acting as the trial coordinator. The BCCI emphasized that teams cannot be left out of the domestic calendar without a clear pathway.

Trials commenced at Delhi Public School, Itanagar, targeting senior men, senior women, Under‑16 men and Under‑23 men squads. The schedule was set to start at 8 a.m. on Tuesday and will run through the day to assess all potential candidates.

The independent panel, chaired by former player Satya Gopal Chakravarty, is responsible for finalising teams that will compete in the Ranji Trophy, Colonel C. K. Nayudu Trophy, Senior Women’s T20 and Vijay Merchant Trophy.
