Lakshman Praises Team's Champion Mindset After Victory Over Pakistan

Bengaluru, 5 Oct – After India’s gold‑medal win at the Asian Games, head coach VVS Lakshman highlighted the champion‑like attitude that defined the team’s performance. He said the players never wavered, even when faced with difficult conditions, and they defended their title with confidence.

India defeated Pakistan by 19 runs in the final, securing a second consecutive gold. Lakshman called the achievement special because the side entered the tournament as the incumbent champions.

In an interview with journalists, the former international cricketer remarked, “Keeping the gold medal safe is a moment that means a lot to all of us.” He gave credit to the squad for staying calm under pressure and delivering when the stakes were highest.

Lakshman also emphasized the depth of talent, noting that the players’ hard work, strategic approach, and champion mindset were the driving forces behind India’s success at this major continental event.
