Lakhya Sen Dominates Opponent to Open Badminton World Championship Campaign

New Delhi, 18 August – Lakhya Sen kicked off his Badminton World Federation World Championship 2026 campaign with a commanding 3‑0 win over Austria’s Colin Filimon at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium.

Sen started slowly, losing the first game 16‑21, but quickly adjusted his tempo. He claimed the second game with a dominant 21‑8 score and finished the third game in just 14 minutes, posting a 21‑4 result.

The initial game was a battle of nerves, with Filimon edging ahead 11‑10 before failing to convert key points. Sen’s consistency allowed him to pull ahead and close the set 21‑16.

In the following games, Sen’s aggressive play forced errors from Filimon, enabling a swift 21‑8 finish in the second game and an overwhelming 21‑4 victory in the final set.
