Kumble‑style advice: Kuldeep may need role change ahead of second Test
In a candid Instagram video, Sanjay Manjrekar offered detailed guidance for left‑arm wrist‑spinner Kuldeep Yadav ahead of the second Test in Colombo. While acknowledging Kuldeep’s skill set, Manjrekar suggested that the bowler should adjust his line, speed, and flight if he remains in the playing eleven.
He proposed that Kuldeep deliver the ball slightly outside the off‑stump, vary his pace between 70‑85 km/h, and add a gentle loop to his deliveries. According to Manjrekar, such tweaks could fetch three wickets per innings even on a flat surface. He warned that the bowler’s recent lack of bounce and speed has raised questions, urging him not to overhaul his entire bowling action but to refine the existing technique.
Manjrekar also mentioned that the team might still opt to drop Kuldeep in favor of a specialist off‑spinner, a decision that would be justified if the current strategy does not yield results.
