In the build-up to IPL 2026 starting March 28, KKR pacer Vaibhav Arora is optimistic about a transformative phase. The three-time champions’ speedster is immersed in pre-season drills, honing his craft for the battles ahead.
Debuting for KKR in 2023, the Ambala native has 36 IPL wickets from 32 outings, starring with 11 scalps in 10 matches during their 2024 triumph. Training camps are in full swing, with Arora dissecting every facet of his bowling.
Team preparations are robust, he revealed. Practice games and net sessions are sharpening diverse techniques. ‘Fast bowlers must evolve skills relentlessly to impact games decisively,’ Arora emphasized.
A major boost comes from Tim Southee’s return as bowling coach. The ex-New Zealand skipper, boasting 700+ international wickets and past KKR colors, offers a treasure trove of wisdom.
Arora reflected on their 2023 camaraderie: ‘Southee’s a legend; I absorbed so much then. Coaching now means deeper collaboration, refining my abilities excitingly.’
Famous for early swing at Eden Gardens, Arora is expanding his arsenal. ‘Swing lasts barely 3-4 overs there due to pitch and conditions,’ he explained. ‘Versatility is essential thereafter.’
As KKR fortifies for another glory run, Arora’s Southee-guided growth promises fireworks on the big stage.
