Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Kiren Rijiju on Friday launched the Central Athlete Injury Management System (CAIMS), a first of its kind initiative to streamline sports medical and rehabilitation support given to athletes by the ministry. The core committee of CAIMS consists of eminent top experts like SKS Mariah, Dinshaw Pardiwala, BV Srinivas and Srikanth Iyengar. CAIMS aims to provide the best sports injury management support closest to the athlete’s geographic location. This will help standardize proper injury treatment protocols for athletes across the country. CAIMS will begin with the support of athletes who are part of the Target Olympic Podium Planning (TOPS) development group, who are expected to participate in the 2024 Olympics and beyond.
