Khel Maharan 3.0: Kamrup Review Meeting Held as Entries Top 2 Lakh

More than two lakh people have registered for 'Khel Maharan 3.0' in Kamrup district, Assam, according to official figures. Reported from Guwahati on October 28, the numbers reflect strong youth participation ahead of the sporting event.

'Khel Maharan 3.0' is an Assam government sports initiative focused on developing sport from the ground up. Its objectives include engaging young people in sporting activities and identifying gifted athletes across the state.

The programme provides emerging sportspersons with a platform to show what they can do. It is also intended to reinforce sporting culture at the community level.

To keep preparations on track, District Commissioner Deba Kumar Mishra chaired a meeting of the district-level committee. The review focused on readiness for smooth execution of the event throughout the district.

At the meeting, members of the committee went over their responsibilities, the event schedule, and the venues designated for different sporting activities. Officers also examined what needed to be arranged to make participation simpler and to ensure departments work together effectively.

The Commissioner directed all departments and officials to cooperate and complete essential arrangements on schedule. He highlighted the need to encourage youth athletes in every part of the district to take an active role, adding that the event offers a chance to show talent and build skills.

The response in Kamrup, with over two lakh registrations, indicates the level of interest in the initiative and the value of grassroots sporting programmes in engaging young people.

The meeting was attended by Additional District Commissioner (Sports) Monica Borgohain, Additional Superintendent of Police Kalyan Pathak, Assistant Commissioners Udeshna Sarma and Polash Bora, and Deputy Superintendents of Police Tinku Jyoti Chowdhury and Deborshi Das.

The Joint Director of Health Services, all Block Development Officers, the Inspector of Schools, the District Sports Officer, the Sub-divisional Sports Officer and other concerned officers were also present.

The district administration is coordinating with relevant departments to finalise logistics, administrative and venue arrangements for the successful staging of 'Khel Maharan 3.0' in Kamrup.
