Kerala Government Seeks Transparency in Sports Administration

The Kerala government is embarking on a major clean‑up of its sports administration after recurring reports of irregularities. Sports Minister O.J. Janish has tasked the State Sports Council with auditing every recognised sports association to ensure compliance with best practices.

A comprehensive questionnaire has been dispatched, requesting insights into each association's operational framework, financial management, election cycles, and governance policies. All responses must be substantiated with verifiable documents and delivered within seven days of issuance.

The council is allotted an additional week to validate the information and compile a thorough report for the minister. The audit will rank associations on standards of governance, achievements, infrastructure quality, financial transparency, and the degree of state involvement required.

Associations that neglect to respond, exhibit prolonged electoral delays, or face internal conflicts will be subject to heightened examination, reflecting the government's resolve to eradicate financial mismanagement and restore confidence in Kerala's sports sector.
