Kerala Government Grants Leave to Schools for 2026 World Cup Showdown
Kerala’s authorities have officially declared Monday a non‑working day for every school, college and university in the state. The move comes after Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan instructed the education ministries to clear the academic calendar for the FIFA World Cup 2026 final. Higher Education Minister Rosie M. John confirmed that all higher‑learning institutions will remain closed, while General Education Minister N. Shamsuddin posted a light‑hearted message on social media confirming the holiday for schools. The decision is expected to prevent any confusion among students, teachers and parents, and to let football fans across Kerala gather at public viewing centres, LED screens and community rallies.
