From school runs to key spell: Kartik Yadav’s rise in Uttar Pradesh T20

Born to a CRPF officer, Kartik Yadav started his cricketing journey as a run‑making batsman in school tournaments. Coach Amit Pal identified his potential with the ball and persuaded him to try left‑arm spin. The decision proved decisive, prompting Yadav to join a renowned cricket academy in Ghaziabad where he refined his craft.

Yadav’s breakthrough spell of four overs for just seven runs and three wickets against Noida Super Kings was a turning point for Kashi Rudras in the UTT20 league. The performance helped the team recover from a mid‑season slump of four consecutive defeats, moving them up to third place with a ten‑run victory.

Throughout the season, Yadav has maintained a disciplined approach, focusing on restricting runs rather than chasing wickets. He explained that his primary goal is to keep the opposition’s scoring rate low, stating, “I don’t chase wickets aggressively; I aim to save runs and build pressure.” This mindset has earned him 14 wickets in 12 games with a commendable economy rate.

The youngster also praised the collective effort of Kashi’s bowling unit, which includes seasoned spinners like Seemar Atal Bihari Rai and ambidextrous Vijay Yadav. Together, they have forged a balanced attack that has been pivotal in the team’s quest for a third straight title.
