Kabaddi Championship: India Men Win 48-20, Semifinal Confirmed

Ahmedabad, October 27: India's men's kabaddi team has booked a semifinal spot at the Commonwealth Kabaddi Championship 2026 with a 48-20 victory over Tanzania.

The Tuesday contest at Ahmedabad's Veer Savarkar Stadium showcased India's balanced strength. The team recorded 30 raid points, 10 tackle points and six 'all-outs'. Tanzania, by contrast, managed 15 raid points and 5 tackle points, and never once 'all-out' the Indian side.

Raiding duties were shouldered by Neeraj Narwal, who scored 12 points from 16 raids, including 6 bonus points. Naveen Kumar and Shivam Patare contributed 9 points each. Both players scored 9 raid points from 11 raids.

The defence was equally effective. Shubham Shinde delivered the best defensive performance with 5 tackle points. Deepak added 3 tackle points and Pravesh Malik added 2.

For Tanzania, Juma Sultaniya was the top performer, scoring 13 points from 20 raids, with 9 of those being bonus points. The collective effort of the Indian side, however, kept the match firmly in its hands.

With the win, India moves closer to the title. Its semifinal is set for October 30 at 8:30 PM, and before that it meets Sri Lanka on October 29 at 8:30 PM in its last group stage fixture.

Malaysia won in both categories earlier in the tournament, while Bangladesh and Canada took victories in the men's section. Kenya's women have already secured a semifinal place, having beaten Scotland 61-16. Malaysia's women defeated Singapore 62-17, and Bangladesh's men beat Singapore 60-28.
