Jacob Schnaiter and Mark Waller Reach First Masters 1000 Semi‑Final
The men’s doubles pair of Jacob Schnaiter and Mark Waller secured a historic place in the Shanghai Masters semi‑finals. They upset top‑seeded Christian Harrison and Neil Skupski 7‑6(5), 6‑3, marking their debut at this stage of a Masters 1000 event.
Schnaiter and Waller, who have been regular partners since January 2024, saved all four break points presented to them and held serve throughout the 83‑minute contest.
The American champions, Harrison and Skupski, entered the match on the back of recent Grand Slam victories but were unable to overcome the disciplined play of the German‑Polish duo.
In the semi‑final, Schnaiter and Waller will meet the winner of the night‑session match between Lucas Medlar/Niel Oberlitaner and Mark Polmans/Jan Jilinski.
Their breakthrough adds a new name to the elite doubles circuit and could see them climb the ATP rankings rapidly.
