Let us know who scored the first century in IPL.

First IPL Century Brendon McCullum: Indian Premier League (IPL) has given many memorable moments in the history of cricket, but when it comes to its initial moments, one name comes to mind first – Brendon McCullum. Yes, this brilliant batsman had played such an innings in the very first match of IPL, which everyone was surprised to see. This batsman is none other than former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum. He was the one who created a stir in IPL in 2008.

Who scored the first century in IPL? First IPL Century

The day of 18 April 2008 was historic for Indian cricket. That day, the first match of IPL was played between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. Bangalore won the toss and decided to bowl first, but this decision proved to be bad for them.

Brendon McCullum and Sourav Ganguly came on the field as opening batsmen for Kolkata. Both of them showed aggressive play from the beginning. The team completed 50 runs in the first four overs itself. However, despite the fall of the wickets of Ganguly and Ricky Ponting, McCullum did not let the pace of scoring slow down.

    Brendon McCullum had hit sixes

McCullum scored unbeaten 158 runs in 73 balls, which included 10 fours and 13 sixes. He completed his century in just 53 balls and became the first player to score a century in the history of IPL. Thanks to his innings, Kolkata scored a huge score of 222 runs. In response, Bangalore team failed to achieve this target.

This inning of McCullum not only led Kolkata Knight Riders to a spectacular victory, but also played an important role in making IPL recognized across the world. This historic inning of his is still counted among the most memorable moments of IPL.

This century of Brendon McCullum is still fresh in the hearts of cricket lovers. It shows how a great start can change the course of a league or tournament.
