IPL 2025: Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is scheduled to start from 22 March, but before that Delhi Capitals (DC) have suffered a major setback. England batsman Harry Brook withdrew his name from the tournament. This is the second consecutive year when Brook has refused to play in the IPL.
Possibility of 2 years ban
After Brook’s decision, there are reports that he can be banned for 2 years. However, no official statement has come on this so far. The reason for his retreat has also not been clear.
ECB gave information to BCCI
According to media reports, the England Cricket Board (ECB) had informed BCCI about the decision last week. After this, BCCI informed the concerned franchise Delhi Capitals (DC). DC included Brook in its team for Rs 6.25 crore. Now the franchise is considering their option.
Brook played from SRH in IPL 2023
Brook played 11 matches for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in IPL 2023, scoring 190 runs. His batting average was 21.11 and the strike rate was 123.38. He also scored a century, but SRH did not give him a chance in three matches due to continuous poor performance.
Brook was then bought by SRH for Rs 13.25 crore, but he could not do justice with his price. At the same time, last year, Brook withdrew his name from IPL citing personal reasons. This time he was bought by DC, but he withdrew his name before the tournament started. Now it has to be seen whether any restrictions are imposed on them or not.
