A major boost for pickleball enthusiasts in India: the Indian Open 2026 is now a sanctioned PWR 1000 event following a strategic alliance between the Indian Pickleball Association (IPA) and Global Sports. Scheduled from April 1 to 5, 2026, at Hyderabad’s Crosscourts, the fourth edition will feature 1,500+ competitors in 56 diverse categories.
Building on the success of previous years—where 4,000 players from 19 nations participated—this tournament steps up under official IPA oversight. It aligns private enterprise with national sports infrastructure, recognized by the government, to legitimize and expand the sport.
IPA President Suryaveer Singh Bhullar emphasized the partnership’s role in providing elite opportunities, igniting pickleball’s evolution nationwide. Global Sports, known for blockbuster tournaments like the Grand Slam and Monsoon Championship with huge crowds and prizes, brings proven expertise.
For players, PWR 1000 status means official rankings, fair competition, and professional pathways. Analysts foresee rapid rises in skill levels and fan engagement, positioning India as a pickleball powerhouse and opening doors to global spectacles.
