Interim coach Dean Brownlee leads revamped NZ women's T20 coaching unit

Christchurch – Dean Brownlee, who assumed interim head‑coach duties for the White Ferns after Ben Sayer’s exit, will now steer a restructured coaching group as New Zealand prepares for a high‑stakes T20 series against Australia.

Joining Brownlee are former Black Cap Martin Guptill, appointed specialist batting and fielding coach, and Andre Adams, returning as assistant coach after successful tours in 2017 and 2023. The trio replaces the previous setup, with Guptill covering the batting and fielding responsibilities while McMillan recovers from surgery.

Brownlee highlighted the importance of continuity and fresh ideas, noting that the new staff bring a blend of international experience and franchise expertise. Adams added that the White Ferns’ environment is uniquely motivating, and the chance to compete against a world‑class Australian side offers a valuable benchmark for the team.

The coaching unit will finalize preparations for the three‑match series commencing on 18 October in Sydney, focusing on tactical innovation, player development, and maintaining the competitive edge that has defined the White Ferns in recent years.
