Injury Woes Continue: Chandimal Out, New Squad Revealed for India Test

Sri Lanka Cricket unveiled a 14‑member squad for the upcoming second Test against India, scheduled to start on Sunday in Colombo. The selection sees the inclusion of all‑rounder Sahan Arachige and batsman Kamal Mishara.

Long‑time skipper Dinesh Chandimal, who suffered an injury in the first Test, is absent from the list, and his standby Passindu Soriyabandara has also been dropped. The board also left out opener Nissanka Maduwantha, all‑rounder Ramesh Mendis and fast bowler Dilshan Madushanka.

Arachige earned his place after a stellar showing for Sri Lanka A versus India A, where he captained the side and posted scores of 72 and 127, finishing as the second‑top scorer behind Indian batsman Sai Sudarshan. He now awaits his first Test cap.

Mishara comes into the squad on the back of an impressive LPL 2026 campaign, tallying 411 runs in nine innings, highlighted by a century against Galle Gladiators. He also recorded a blistering 145 off 72 balls in the Major Clubs T20 competition.

Sri Lanka suffered a 165‑run defeat in the opening Test and must secure a win in the second match to keep the series alive, while India looks to consolidate its 165‑run lead.
