Injury Blow Sends Sunder Out, Dubey Named in India ODI Line‑up

The third and final One Day International between India and England at Lord’s will see a changed XI after Washington Sunder’s hamstring injury forced his withdrawal. The BCCI confirmed left‑arm spinner Harsh Dubey’s inclusion on Saturday.

Sunder injured his right hamstring during the second ODI at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff, and doctors have advised a recovery period spanning several weeks, making him unavailable for the Sunday match.

Dubey’s introduction comes after a promising debut in June, where he posted a brisk 47 runs and claimed three wickets versus Afghanistan. He also made significant contributions in the Red‑Ball series against Sri Lanka A, scoring 30 and 29 in separate innings and picking up three wickets.

He now joins India’s spin rotation with Akshar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav, providing the side with additional variety.

Post‑series, Dubey will travel to Zimbabwe for a three‑match ODI series commencing on July 23, with the second and third games slated for July 25 and 26 at Harare Sports Club.

The updated playing XI for the Lord’s test includes: Shubman Gill (captain), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer (vice‑captain), KL Rahul (wicket‑keeper), Ishant Kishan (wicket‑keeper), Akshar Patel, Shivam Dubey, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Prithvi Krishna, Arshdeep Singh, Gurkeerat Bhullar, Prince Yadav, and Harsh Dubey.
