India’s Unchanged XI Faces West Indies After Toss Win in Hyderabad
The fourth Twenty20 of the India‑West Indies series continued at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium on 14 October. Shreyas Iyer, after winning the toss, elected to bowl first, noting the newly‑laid pitch offers pace and bounce that could trouble the Caribbean batsmen. He also reiterated that the side will stick with the same eleven that delivered a strong performance in the previous match.
West Indies captain Shai Hope, who opted to field after losing the toss, highlighted the need for a solid start in the chase. He disclosed two changes: Purann and Quentin Samson have been omitted, with Romario Shepherd and Jewel Andrews coming in to reinforce the squad.
India’s batting has been in fine form throughout the series. Abhishek Sharma’s aggressive 69 off 30 balls in the third T20, along with steady contributions from Tilak Varma and Ishan Kishan, have set a high bar. Sanju Samson’s 82 in the second match and the finishing prowess of Akshar Patel and Neetish Kumar Reddy have further solidified the batting order.
West Indies have kept the contest lively, successfully pursuing 250 in the second T20 and making 209 in the third while chasing 224. Shai Hope and Sherfane Rutherford have been the standout batters, but their bowling unit, except for Rostan Chase, has struggled to apply pressure on Indian run‑makers.
India’s official playing eleven: Sanju Samson (wk), Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer (c), Tilak Varma, Naman Dhir, Neetish Kumar Reddy, Akshar Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Prince Yadav, Mayank Yadav.
