Indian Cricket Team Advances to Asian Games 2026 Semi-Finals Without Playing Quarterfinal

The rain that drenched KoroGi Sports Park on September 28 halted the quarter‑final showdown between India and Afghanistan, leaving the match unfinished. Since the ICC T20 International rankings place India at the summit and Afghanistan at tenth, the tournament committee promoted India to the semi‑final round without a single delivery being bowled.

The downpour also cancelled the toss and kept the pitch fully covered. Shreyas Iyer’s men now await their semi‑final clash on October 1. Earlier, Pakistan benefited from a similar rain‑induced walkover against Hong Kong (China). The schedule for Tuesday includes Sri Lanka versus Nepal and Bangladesh versus Malaysia.
