Indian Badminton Star PV Sindhu Advances to Semi Finals in Tokyo

PV Sindhu, the two‑time Olympic medalist from India, progressed to the semi‑finals of the Japan Open Super 750 on Friday after Japan’s Nozomi Okahara withdrew ahead of their scheduled quarter‑final clash. This achievement adds a third semi‑final to Sindhu’s season, joining her strong performances at the Malaysia Super 1000 and the Australia Super 500. It is her first Super 750 semi‑final since the Denmark Open earlier this year. At 31, she now eyes her maiden title of the season. Her next opponent will be Chinese shuttler Chen Yufei, world No. 4 and Tokyo Olympic champion. Sindhu trails Chen 6‑8 in their overall meetings and has lost the last five head‑to‑head matches.
