Indian Athletes to Star at Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games
India’s delegation to the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games is set to feature a blend of seasoned champions and rising stars. Olympic javelin champion Neeraj Chopra, who captured the 2018 Commonwealth title, will lead the athletics team. Sprinters Mirabai Chanu and Lovlina Borgohain, both Olympic medalists, are also part of the squad.
The contingent includes national record‑holder Gurinder Singh, long‑distance runner Animesh Kujur and seasoned wrestler Murali Srishankar, each boasting multiple international medals. A total of 125 athletes, including para‑competitors, will compete across the ten core sports and six para‑disciplines.
Expect strong performances in athletics, especially in javelin, long jump, and women's 400 metres where Indian athletes have posted season‑best times. The boxing ring will see seasoned pugilists aiming for gold, while the swimming pool holds promise for emerging talents in freestyle sprints.
India finished the previous edition with 61 medals; the Glasgow team is targeting a double‑digit increase, leveraging home‑grown talent and world‑class coaching.
