Indian Army’s Sports Programme Produces Asian Games Rowing Representative

Nitin Kumar’s ascent from a fresh Agnivir recruit to an Asian Games rower underscores the impact of disciplined training and institutional support. After his enlistment in 2023, army coaches recognised his potential at a Delhi training centre and enrolled him in the Army Sports Nodes for advanced development. The rigorous regimen equipped him with the stamina and technique required for global contests. Kumar’s achievements include representing India at the 2026 World Rowing Championships in Belgium, securing seventh place at the Asian Games in Japan, and clinching medals at national events – gold at the 2025 Khelo India Water Sports Games, bronze at the 42nd Senior Nationals, and gold at the 43rd Senior Nationals in 2026.
