Indian Army Boxer Jasmine Lomboria Makes History with Commonwealth Gold

Jasmine Lomboria, a 24‑year‑old serving in the Indian Army, clinched the women’s 57 kg boxing gold at the Commonwealth Games on Saturday, overwhelming Northern Irish opponent Mikela Walsh with a unanimous 5‑0 decision. Lomboria’s post‑fight comments underscored the discipline and perseverance that led to the victory.

"I have put in countless hours of training, and finally the results are visible," she said, recalling her bronze‑medal finish at the 2022 Games when she was still a newcomer. With an experienced coaching team that mapped out a specialist strategy for Walsh, Lomboria executed her game plan flawlessly, securing a historic win for the nation.
