India's wicket‑keeper Pant exits early as injury disrupts Sri Lanka Test

The second Test between India and Sri Lanka witnessed an early casualty when India’s wicket‑keeper‑batsman Rishabh Pant was forced off the field after a fiery delivery from Lahiru Kumara met his left wrist. The incident unfolded on the first ball of the 58th over, when Kumara bowled a short‑pitched ball that rose sharply. Pant attempted a pull shot, but the ball struck the bone of his left hand, delivering a jarring pain that sent him to the ground.

Team physio Komal Jain attended promptly with an ice compress, yet the pain lingered. Umpires consulted with the team, and Pant was deemed unfit to continue. By then he had faced 15 deliveries and added only three runs to the scoreboard.

Ravindra Jadeja replaced him at the crease, taking the number‑six batting position. The Indian side has not yet released an official medical update on Pant’s condition.
