India vs New Zealand 2nd T20: Kiwis Reach 180 for Five

The second T20 International between India and New Zealand is being played at Hagley Oval, where the visitors posted a competitive total of 180 for five in their 20 overs.

New Zealand opted to bat after losing the toss, but the top order failed to fire. Tim Seifert was dismissed by Arshdeep Singh for 7. Daryl Mitchell was then out caught by Tilak Varma off Bhuvneshwar Kumar's bowling. Finn Allen's stay was also brief, as Prince Yadav produced an excellent delivery to clean bowl him for 16.

The innings was revived by a fourth-wicket partnership between Glenn Phillips and Bevon Jacobs. Their stand of 116 runs came off 76 balls after the side had slipped to 41 for three.

Jacobs scored 58 from 46 balls, with five fours and one six. Phillips was even more explosive, smashing 70 from 43 balls, which included four boundaries and four sixes.

Mitchell Santner and Michael Bracewell finished unbeaten, adding 10 runs in two balls.

Among the Indian bowlers, Arshdeep Singh was the most successful, taking two wickets for 33 runs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the costliest, giving away 50 runs for one wicket in four overs. Axar Patel was the most economical with 28 runs from four overs. Nitish Kumar Reddy and Prince Yadav took one wicket apiece.

India made one change in the lineup. Ishan Kishan was unavailable due to injury, and 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi earned a place in the side. New Zealand also made a change, bringing in Jacob Duffy in place of Adam Milne.
