India Clinch Third T20 by 6 Wickets, Lead Series 3-0

Wellington: India secured a commanding six-wicket victory over New Zealand in the third T20 International of the series, played at the Henry Stadium on Tuesday. The result gives the visitors an unassailable 3-0 advantage in the five-match contest.

The star of the chase was Abhishek Sharma, who smashed an unbeaten-style blitz of 113 runs from 38 deliveries. His innings featured 11 sixes and nine fours. Alongside Vaibhav Suryavanshi, he added 133 runs in 7.1 overs, turning the chase into a one-sided affair.

New Zealand had earlier made 198 for three in their allotted 20 overs. Daryl Mitchell led the innings with an unbeaten 89, supported by Finn Allen's 40 and an unbeaten 39 from Bevon Jacobs.

India needed only 13.2 overs to complete the chase. For his explosive knock, Abhishek Sharma was named Player of the Match.

The success has also been celebrated thousands of kilometres away in Amritsar, where Abhishek's family lives. His father, Raj Kumar Sharma, said the timing made the victory even more special, as the day coincided with the Prakash Parv of Shri Guru Ramdas Ji. He said his son had created a world record in the game and that the team had secured a strong series lead.

He added that congratulatory calls had been pouring in and that visitors had crowded their home. He said the family considered the city's spiritual legacy a source of strength and prayed for continued success for his son.
