India's first Test against Sri Lanka sees Rahul's cramps and Padikkal's record ton

Meanwhile, Devdutt Padikkal turned his maiden Test century into a defining inning, scoring 131 with a blend of power and patience. His partnership of 150 runs with Rahul was key to stabilising the innings after early setbacks.

Kotak praised both players, noting Padikkal’s two‑year dedication in the nets and Rahul’s ability to deliver despite physical discomfort. The duo’s contributions laid a strong foundation for India’s chase of a sizeable total on the final day.
