Sports Minister Highlights Gender‑Focused Reforms Ahead of 2030 Games

At a bilateral session in Glasgow, Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Manodaria spoke with Commonwealth Secretary‑General Sherry Ayorkor Bocwhe about India’s ambitious sport‑development agenda. The conversation centered on the "Khelo India" strategy and the "Asmita League", initiatives that aim to uplift grassroots sport, champion women’s participation and streamline talent identification.

Both officials examined how the Commonwealth’s collaborative mechanisms can assist India’s preparation for the 2030 Commonwealth Games, including leveraging the Commonwealth Advantage to attract investment and enhance gender‑balanced competition. Manodaria confirmed the readiness of Ahmedabad’s new facilities, describing them as sustainable, inclusive and capable of delivering a memorable Games experience.

Manodaria’s presence at the Glasgow conference, which also hosts the 2026 Commonwealth Games, positions him to network with other delegations and promote India’s future bid for the 2036 Olympic Games.
