The Indian women's compound archery team wrote a new chapter in the nation's sporting history on September 30, winning gold at the Asian Games 2026 and equalling the world record with a 238‑234 victory over China.
Chikitha Taniparthi, Prithika Pradeep and Jyoti Surekha Venam were praised by President Draupadi Murmu, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju for their outstanding precision, patience and teamwork.
With this gold, India’s tally at the Games rose to 53 medals – seven gold, 21 silver and 25 bronze – underscoring the country's growing dominance in Asian sport.
