India Stay Unbeaten in Group K After Narrow 2-1 Win Over Cameroon
Baku, October 25: India kept their perfect start alive at the FIFA U-15 World Cup 2026, defeating Cameroon 2-1 in a tense Group K match at the Hovsan Competition Complex on Sunday. It was their second straight victory, and they now lead the group as the only unbeaten and undefeated side with two wins.
India took the lead early when Cameroon's Farrel Ngobo turned the ball into his own net in the opening minute, after an attempted header clearance went wrong.
Just before halftime, the score was levelled. Mokhtar's right-sided cross struck Indian defender Mohammed Sohil Khan and found the back of the net in the 20th minute, a second own goal of the contest.
In the second half, India regained the advantage through captain Lalremruatfela. Substitute Ronandev Ahaibam won possession in midfield and fed Deepak Singh Aram Bam, whose precise low cross allowed Lalremruatfela to score with a first-time left-foot finish in the 27th minute.
Goalkeeper Zenith Ningthoujam was central to India's defensive effort. He pulled off important saves, including a stop from a free kick and another from a close-range attempt, before saving a penalty awarded after Naram Meitei Loushambam handled a shot. The spot kick by Haroun Abdoulaye was denied in the 32nd minute.
The final minutes were controlled by India despite heavy rain. Ronandev shot powerfully in the 33rd minute, and Cameroon's goalkeeper kept his side in the match by pushing Saumojit Sarkar's free kick over the crossbar two minutes later.
India's victory keeps them at the top of Group K with a strong position in the tournament.
