India pushes Brazil, but Selecao clinches 4‑0 friendly victory

Kolkata, October 4 – In a much‑anticipated friendly, Brazil’s Seleção overcame India with a 4‑0 win at the Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Kendra. Coach Carlo Enseleti praised the Indian side for their aggressive counter‑attack strategy and disciplined defending, which kept the match closely contested in several phases.

Brazil’s scoring opened with Estêvão’s strike, followed by Pedro’s goal before the interval. After the break, substitute Samuel Lino added a double, sealing the victory. Despite the four‑goal margin, India’s defence held firm enough to prevent any Brazilian goal, a point the coach highlighted as a positive takeaway for the hosts.

Enseleti explained that his defensive unit was largely untested together, which contributed to a few lapses, but Indian players managed to generate space and challenge the Brazilian attack effectively. He also mentioned that the large, enthusiastic crowd – estimated at 51,000 – added to the excitement of the encounter.

The Brazilian coach concluded that both teams displayed quality football and expressed hope that fans enjoyed the thrilling showcase of talent from two continents.
