India Police Four Wickets to Set 186 Chase Against NZ
The Indian cricket team secured a commanding bowling performance to set a 186-run target for New Zealand in the first ODI. Played at Auckland’s Eden Park, the match saw India win the toss and elect to bowl first, a move that paid off spectacularly.
New Zealand’s batting lineup faced early trouble. Will Young managed only nine runs before the first wicket fell at 22. The middle order never recovered, as India’s bowlers consistently broke partnerships and kept the scoreboard locked.
Tim Seifert led the fightback for the hosts, hitting 38 runs off 43 balls featuring two boundaries and two sixes. Daryl Mitchell added 28 runs in 41 deliveries, and Glenn Phillips contributed 30 off 51 balls. Mitchell fell to a run-out chance off Rohit Sharma’s bowling.
With the side collapsing at 146 for nine, Blair Tickner emerged as a match-saver. The number ten batsman accelerated the endgame, smashing 34 not out off just 23 balls. He linked up with Tom Blundell for a final 39-run stand, taking the innings total to 185 in 40.2 overs.
Arshdeep Singh was the most devastating bowler, taking four wickets for 70 runs in his 10-over allocation. Anshul Kamboj maintained tight lines, claiming two wickets for 22 runs while benefiting from two maiden overs. Gurur Barber finished with three wickets for 44 runs in 9.2 overs.
