India's opening pair disrupted as Gill injured during practice

India's top order faced an unexpected setback when Shubman Gill suffered an elbow injury in a net session on Friday. The injury was caused by a bouncing delivery from fast bowler Mohammad Siraj, which hit Gill's right elbow and forced him to drop his bat. After receiving immediate care from physiotherapist Kamlesh Jain, Gill rested on the side of the ground while Virat Kohli and Siraj checked on his condition. Prior to the incident, Gill had been batting in good rhythm alongside Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ruturaj Gaikwad. The first ODI against West Indies is set for Sunday, and the Indian management will assess Gill's readiness before the match. This adds to the team's existing fitness concerns, with all‑rounders Hardik Pandya and Harshit Rana already out of the squad.
