Mixed Trap Triumph: India Beats Qatar and China to Claim Top Spot
India’s shooters captured the mixed trap title at the 2026 Asian Games, beating strong contenders from Qatar and China. The partnership of Neeru Dhanda and Kinan Chenai amassed 34 points, edging Qatar’s 32‑point effort for silver and leaving China with the bronze at 23 points.
The final unfolded over four shooting series. The Indian duo posted 6 points in the opening round, followed by a surge to 16 points in the second series. By the end of the third series they had accumulated 26 points, and a decisive fourth series pushed the total to 34, ensuring gold.
This achievement adds a third Asian Games medal for Neeru, who previously won silver in the women’s trap team competition and made history with an individual trap gold—the first ever by an Indian woman. The broader Indian contingent also celebrated success in archery, where mixed compound shooters Rajesh Jadhav and Chikita Taniparthi won a shoot‑off against South Korea, and the women’s compound team defeated China, pushing India’s gold tally to nine.
