India's Gill Moves to Second on Home ODI Hundred Board
Shubman Gill’s latest innings has propelled him to the second‑most consecutive ODI hundreds scored in India. The 62‑ball hundred against West Indies at Barsapara marked his third straight century on home soil, following a 110‑run knock in Tirunelveli and a 154‑run masterpiece versus Afghanistan.
Only AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli have surpassed him, each with four successive centuries in the subcontinent. Gill’s achievement also pushes him into a joint fourth place among Indians with the fastest ODI hundreds, a record that includes KL Rahul’s 62‑ball ton.
West Indies, after electing to bat first, were dismissed for 405, featuring centuries from John Campbell (101), Shai Hope (104) and Aamir Jamal (114). India’s bowlers Gurkeerat Singh, Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav shared four wickets between them.
Gill, alongside Rohit Sharma, then orchestrated a 251‑run, unbeaten partnership, both completing centuries and setting a solid foundation for India’s chase.
