Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the athletes on X, congratulating every team member for representing the country with steadfast resolve, passion and an admirable sporting spirit. He urged the medalists to serve as role models for upcoming generations and to bolster sports development at the grassroots level.
Athletics contributed the most medals (24), followed by shooting (15). Archery topped the gold‑medal chart with five triumphs. Both cricket sides defended their Asian Games crowns, and the kabaddi teams secured gold for men and women.
In hockey, the men’s team retained their title with a 5‑1 win over Malaysia, while the women’s squad ended a 44‑year wait by defeating China 1‑0 for gold.
