India Breaks 100-Medal Barrier at 2023 Asian Para Games

For the first time in its history, India crossed the 100‑medal threshold at an Asian Para Games. The 2023 Hangzhou edition yielded 29 gold, 31 silver and 51 bronze medals, pushing the nation to a historic fifth‑place finish. The record‑setting haul was achieved by a record‑large squad of 303 athletes, who outperformed expectations across track, swimming, archery and several team events.

Analysts view this milestone as a turning point that could boost future participation and funding for para‑sports throughout the country.
