India’s Boxing Squad Secures Three Medals as Asian Games Progress

NEW DELHI, Sept 27 – The Indian boxing contingent has solidified its standing at the Asian Games with three medals confirmed. Heavyweight Narendra Berwal’s quarter‑final triumph over Atapong Sengtep guarantees a medal and a semi‑final against world champion Ibek Orlb.

In the men’s 60 kg category, Sachin Sivach fell to Japan’s Shunsuke Kitamoto, a 2025 World Championship bronze medallist, after a unanimous 0‑5 decision. Despite a spirited comeback in the third round, the judges’ 29‑28 tally favored the Japanese boxer.

Meanwhile, Parveen Hooda delivered a flawless 5‑0 victory over Uzbekistan’s Navbakhor Khamidova in the women’s 65 kg quarter‑final, securing her own medal. The trio of Berwal, Hooda and earlier medallist Ankur Panhala now carries India’s hopes for further success in the remaining boxing bouts.
