India's batting collapses as New Zealand win 4th T20 by 87 runs
India's batting unit struggled badly as New Zealand secured an 87-run victory in the fourth T20 International at Auckland.
New Zealand posted 259 for seven after 20 overs, powered by a stunning 107 from Glenn Phillips off 49 balls. Michael Bracewell's 65 off 25 balls added further momentum to the total.
In reply, India needed 260 to win but were never in the contest. They finished on 172 for nine, falling well short of the target.
India lost early wickets as Sanju Samson scored 4 and Ishan Kishan failed to get off the mark. Abhishek Sharma made 27 and Shreyas Iyer scored 22 from 11 balls.
Later, Axar Patel made 7 and Nitish Kumar Reddy was out for 21. Tilak Varma led the scoring with 35, while Naman Dhir added 28. Prince Yadav remained not out on 18.
This is India's second-heaviest T20I defeat by runs. Their biggest loss in the format came earlier in 2026 against England, when they lost by 125 runs.
The result also stopped India's streak of 10 consecutive T20 wins against New Zealand.
For New Zealand, Jacob Duffy took 4 wickets for 23 runs. Mitchell Santner and Matthew Fisher picked up two wickets apiece.
