India Aims to Build Global Sports Ecosystem Beyond Medal Tally

During the inauguration of the World Archery Para Series, Amit Shah articulated a long‑term vision for Indian sport that goes past the pursuit of medals. He urged stakeholders to focus on constructing a comprehensive sports ecosystem that integrates world‑class training centres, cutting‑edge equipment factories and advanced medical facilities.

Shah highlighted that the upcoming sports infrastructure in Ahmedabad will be designed to international specifications, benefiting athletes from India and abroad. He emphasized the role of sports engineering and sports medical science as emerging industries where India can take a leadership position, offering rehabilitation services that meet global benchmarks.

The minister also referenced Gujarat’s recent experience of hosting nearly ten international sporting events between 2025 and 2026, noting how those experiences have prepared the state to manage larger spectacles such as the Commonwealth Games in 2030 and the prospective bid for the 2036 Olympics.

According to Shah, a true champion is forged by a relentless desire to win, not merely by access to facilities. He called the para‑archery series a “prestigious test of focus” that will set new standards of excellence and demonstrate Ahmedabad’s readiness to host future global sports events, thereby reinforcing India's ambition to nurture every discipline that features in the Olympics, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and beyond.
