The second fixture of the four‑day unofficial Test series saw India A win the toss and opt to bowl first. Sri Lanka A took advantage of the decision, reaching 288 for five wickets by the close of the first day's play.

India A's opening bowlers struggled to contain the run‑flow, as Sri Lanka's top order built a 53‑run opening partnership. Pavanta Veerasinghe contributed a steady 53 before being dismissed, while Soham De Livera added 28 runs.

Middle‑order batsmen Asen Bundara and Nuvanidu Fernando combined for a 57‑run stand, with Bundara scoring 34 before his wicket fell. The innings was later anchored by captain Sahan Arachige, who remained unbeaten on 83, and wicket‑keeper Anjla Bundara, who added 42 runs.

India A's primary bowlers, Saransh Jain (2/77), Yash Thakur (2/32) and Gurnur Barar (1/49), managed to claim a total of five wickets but could not prevent the host side from posting a competitive total.
