Sports Desk. The final match of the two-Test series between India and South Africa (IND vs SA) is being played in Cape Town (Newlands, Cape Town). Host South Africa is leading the series 1-0 by winning the Boxing Day Test played at Centurion (SuperSport Park, Centurion) but due to Proteas captain Temba Bavuma pulling the hamstring of his left leg during the first match. He is not playing in the Cape Town Test. In his place, former captain Dean Elgar, who is playing his farewell Test series, is taking charge of the South African team. For this match, South Africa made a total of three changes in its playing eleven, in which Tristan Stubbs also got a chance and this is his debut Test.

Let us tell you that the Test debut of 23-year-old Stubbs, who made his debut in ODI and T20, was not memorable for the Proteas team. This right-handed batsman became the victim of Jaspreet Bumrah after scoring just three runs. He faced 11 balls in his innings but he looked uncomfortable in front of the Indian bowlers. Stubbs became the 359th player to make his Test debut for South Africa. Earlier, he scored six runs in an ODI for the Proteas team. He made his ODI debut against West Indies on March 18 last year. So far, he has scored 239 runs in 13 innings of 17 T20 International matches for the Proteas team.

It is noteworthy that Stubbs has played only 15 first class matches so far. However, during this period he impressed the national selectors a lot with his ability. In 22 innings of 15 first-class matches, he has scored 892 runs at an average of 44.60 and strike rate of 60.02. During this period, he has four centuries and one half-century in his name. His highest score in a first-class match is 132 runs. Stubbs’ conversion rate in first-class matches is quite good. However, he has failed to make the first innings of his debut Test memorable. Apart from Stubbs, South Africa has included Lungi Ngidi in place of fast bowler Gerald Coetzee and off-spinner Kesav Maharaj in place of Keegan Pietersen in the final eleven.
