ICC Test Batting Rankings See Babar Azam Rise to Ninth Spot

The International Cricket Council’s updated Test batting rankings on August 12 placed Pakistan’s Babar Azam at number nine, a five‑place jump after his impressive West Indies outing.

Babar accumulated 193 runs, featuring two half‑centuries across four innings, which earned him a spot among the world’s best. The top eight comprise Travis Head (Australia), Harry Brook (England), Joe Root (England), Steve Smith (Australia), Temba Bavuma (South Africa), Kamesh Nisansala (Sri Lanka), Shubman Gill (India) and Rachin Ravindra (New Zealand). Yashasvi Jaiswal of India holds the tenth position.

Sri Lanka’s Dinesh Chandimal slipped to eleventh, exiting the elite group.

In the bowling rankings, Jasprit Bumrah still leads, with Matt Henry and Michael Starc following. South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada moved up a slot, while Pakistan’s Naseem Ali lost one place.

All‑rounder rankings feature India’s Ravindra Jadeja at the summit, with Marco Jansen (South Africa) and Michael Starc (Australia) in second and third. Bangladesh’s Mahmud Hassan Miraz and Pat Cummins (Australia) complete the top five.
