Cuttack erupted in cheers as India’s Deaf cricket squad scripted history, lifting the inaugural ADCA T20 Asia Cup 2026 trophy after a convincing six-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the summit clash at Barabati Stadium.
Batting first, Sri Lanka managed 144/7 in their quota of 20 overs. India, unfazed, overhauled the total in 19.5 overs with four wickets in hand, sealing a memorable triumph.
The path to the final was paved with thrilling encounters. India kicked off with a narrow four-wicket win against Sri Lanka, then whitewashed Nepal by 10 wickets. Sri Lanka responded fiercely, defeating Nepal by six wickets and later by a massive 157 runs. India then nipped Sri Lanka by a solitary run before cruising past Nepal by nine wickets to book their final berth.
Star all-rounder Sai Akash was the standout performer in the final, smashing 27 off 14 deliveries and snaring two wickets to claim Player of the Match honors.
For Sri Lanka, Gimadu EL Malcolm lit up the series with 196 runs and seven wickets, earning dual awards as Best Batter and Player of the Series. Gihan Lasidu D’Silva’s 10 wickets made him the top bowler.
