Historic third Asian Games medal for Indian wushu star Roshibina Devi

Imphal, September 24 – Naorem Roshibina Devi made history at the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya by becoming the first Indian Wushu athlete to win medals at three consecutive editions of the event. The 25‑year‑old secured a silver medal in the women’s 60 kg sanda division, adding to her bronze from Jakarta 2018 and silver from Hangzhou 2023.

The Manipur chief minister, Yumnam Khemchand Singh, posted a heartfelt congratulatory note on his official X handle, emphasizing the pride Roshibina brings to both the state and the nation. He highlighted her role as a role model for aspiring athletes and urged her to keep the momentum for future international competitions.

Roshibina’s road to the final included a flawless 5‑0 win over Macau’s Chu Man Sin in the quarter‑finals, guaranteeing at least a bronze. In the gold medal bout, she faced China’s Zhang Xiaoyu, who dominated the match with a 0‑2 scoreline. Though the gold slipped away, Roshibina’s silver underscores her elite standing in Asian Wushu.
