Historic Lower‑Order Batting Milestone as Yadav Joins Ashwin, Shrestha

Prince Yadav’s six‑ball, 13‑run cameo at number 10 has etched his name beside two of India’s most memorable lower‑order performances. In the third T20I against West Indies, Yadav’s three fours made him only the third batter to hit three or more boundaries from the number 10 or 11 slot in T20 International cricket.

The precedent was set by Ravichandran Ashwin, who in 2011 struck three fours against England, and by S. Sreesanth, whose four fours against New Zealand in 2007 propelled a 19‑run blitz.

India posted a towering 223, thanks to Abhishek Sharma’s 69 off 30 balls (six fours, five sixes) and swift support from Ishan Kishan (37 off 18) and Tilak Varma (28 off 16). The West Indies chase fell short at 209/7, with Shimon Hetmyer’s 43 and Kamille Poonam’s 42 leading the effort.

Arshdeep Singh’s three‑wicket spell (3/44) and Naman Dhir’s two wickets were decisive on the bowling front. The series now stands at 2‑1 in India’s favor, underscoring the impact of contributions from deep in the batting order.
