Historic debut fifty propels India to 1‑0 lead in T20 series vs Zimbabwe

India began its three‑match T20 itinerary against Zimbabwe with a seven‑wicket win that saw a record‑breaking debut from Vaibhav Suryavanshi. The left‑hander, who had struggled in his first three international innings, responded with a blazing 50 off 19 balls, hitting four boundaries and four sixes. This innings placed him in the record books as the youngest player to score a fifty in a T20 International.

Chasing 126, India reached the target with 13.2 overs to spare, losing only three wickets. Ishan Kishan added a quick 35, with three fours and two sixes, while captain Shreyas Iyer finished unbeaten on 28. Tilak Varma contributed a quick six, and the lower order held steady.

Zimbabwe’s innings was limited to 125 runs. Ryan Burl scored 26, Wesley Madhevere 39, and Tadiwanashe Marumani 27. Blessing Muzarabani claimed two wickets, and Richard Ngecha took one. India’s bowlers – Mayank Yadav, Prince Yadav, Shivam Dubey and Ravi Bishnoi – shared the wickets and kept the run rate low.

The victory gives India a 1‑0 series advantage and marks Shreyas Iyer’s maiden win as national captain.
