Historic 250-Point Gold for Mona Agrawal as India Leads 10m Air Rifle

Mona Agrawal made history at the Asian Para Games 2026 by posting a perfect 250‑point score in the women's 10 metre air rifle standing SH1 competition, earning India its first gold of the event. Her compatriot, Avni Lekhra, was not far behind, registering 249.6 points for the silver medal.

The bronze went to South Korea's Yunri Lee, who scored 227.9 points. Agrawal’s tally shattered the previous Asian Para Games record of 249.6 set by Lekhra, yet it fell just short of the world record of 252 held by Slovakia's Irene Schatetznik.

Beyond the medals, the achievements unlocked a quota place for Avni Lekhra for the 2028 Paralympic Games, bolstering India's future squad. In the qualification round, Agrawal dominated with 629.1 points across six series, establishing a new Games qualification record and overtaking China's Zhang Kuiping. Lekhra’s 626.4 points secured her the second‑best qualifier slot.

Both athletes entered the Games with strong credentials. Agrawal had secured a Paris 2024 Paralympic quota at the WSPS World Championship in Changwon and later added a bronze medal at the Paris Paralympics with a 250‑point effort. Lekhra’s career already boasts three major medals, including a bronze and gold at the Tokyo Games and a gold at the Paris Paralympics in the same 10 metre air rifle SH1 event.
