High‑level performance review held after Ireland‑England series

The review meeting, originally slated for July, was postponed due to India’s successful tours of Zimbabwe (3‑0 in T20Is) and Sri Lanka (1‑0 in Tests). It finally convened on September 3.

Members present included T20I skipper Shreyas Iyer, Test/ODI captain Shubman Gill, Head Coach Gautam Gambhir, Centre of Excellence chief VVS Lakshman and senior BCCI administrators. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar could not join the session because he was travelling outside Mumbai and faced connectivity issues.

Saikia emphasized that the gathering was routine, occurring every two to three months, and did not involve any selection decisions. The focus remained on assessing the recent overseas performances and planning the next steps toward the 2027 World Cup.
